Come join an Autumnal Equinox Celebration & Community Maypole Dance!
The Port Orford Witches Dance Group is getting ready to celebrate the Autumnal Equinox in STYLE! On Monday, September 22, from 2pm until 4pm, the wacky, wonderful, zany, zesty, spirited and silly dancers will be spreading Equinox joy all over town, while adorned in autumn witchy finery. Come watch us and move with us to “Schüttel Deinen Speck” (“Shake Your Bacon”) – our signature music!
As a very special equinox extravaganza addition, we will be unveiling the Autumn Maypole at our Community Maypole Dance finale at Battle Rock! Finale starts at 3:30pm.
Come cheer us on! Come follow us around town! WE LOVE GROUPIES! Come watch us and move with us to the music. We have brooms you can borrow for improvisational audience participation. Let’s all celebrate together the seasonal balance of light and darkness. Let’s all welcome the arrival of beautiful autumn.
Our special finale will begin at 3:30pm at Battle Rock Wayside in front of one of the most glorious scenic views on earth. Down by the Visitors Center we will dance to “Shake Your Bacon” (inside the circular stonewall on top of the mosaic compass). Then we will recruit volunteers from the audience to help us as we dance around the Autumn Maypole to Celtic Maypole dance music!
Join in! Move with us in an easy circle dance as we wrap the Maypole with colorful ribbons. Have fun! Check out the flyer for our schedule and get out your dancing shoes!
