July’s Second Saturday is a very special Art Walk. We are featuring Hawthorne and Cook galleries, honoring the amazing artists, Chris and Julie Hawthorne and Rick Cook, who were among the founders and early organizers of the Port Orford Arts Council, which began in January 1977.
Rick and Chris have been making art in Port Orford for over 45 years. Second generation Daemian Hawthorne, Chris and Julie’s son, continues the family artistic tradition and his vibrant art is on view at Hawthorne along with the stunning work of 20 other artists. We lost Julie in 2022, but her astounding creative legacy lives on. Rick Cook’s gallery features his extraordinary handmade furniture along with the art of others who work in wood and stone. Rick also has an impressive assortment of antiques and collectibles for sale.
Summer is THE PERFECT TIME for an Art Walk, THE PERFECT TIME to visit all of Port Orford’s wonderful galleries. Make sure to include Hawthorne and Cook galleries on your July 13th Art Walk!
